The Smartest Loser is a football survival pool. Unlike the tradition survival pool you may be used to, The Smartest Loser rewards losing football picks rather than winning picks. The Smartest Loser adds another distinction by not allowing duplicate picks. Once a football team has been selected, it cannot be picked again.

How do I play The Smartest Loser?

Take a look at the schedule of professional football games in Week 1. Pick one football team that you are pretty sure is going to lose, then log in and submit your loser pick. If that team loses in Week 1, you survive to play Week 2, and so on for the remainder of the football season. But remember that you cannot make duplicate your selection throughout the regular season. Be sure to review the Official Rules before registering.

How do I know who I've already picked?

The Commish updates the Selection Grid by the day of the first football game of the week (usually Sunday). The Selection Grid indicates who has picked which football teams and when. Everybody’s picks are viewable to all players.

What happens if the team I pick ties or wins?

This isn’t your typical football survival pool. Losing is rewarded here! The Smartest Loser uses a double elimination formation, so if the football team you pick ties or wins, that means you get another chance for the Consolation Prize!

How much does it cost to play The Smartest Loser?

Players may enter this football loser pool more than once, but each entry for the 2011 pro football season is $40.  If you love the game so much you want to enter more than once, you will have to register once for each entry.

How much can I win?

The sky is the limit!  That depends on how many people play! Entry fees ($40 for each entry) will be returned to the winner, minus PayPal transaction and administration fees.  If 30 people join, then the total prize will be $1,200, minus fees (Make sure you read the Official Rules to see how that prize will be divided using the double elimination format).
